For many years there has been talk of the paperless office. The paperless office and workplace no longer has stacks of paper documents coming through the mailing room for dispatch to the appropriate department for further collation, review, and signing. However, with all this talk of the paperless office, one of the last sets of business transactions to be truly automated is the plethora of documents that require a signature to complete the business transaction. Electronic signature (e-signature) solutions have been around for some time but are only now being seen as a critical component of digitisation efforts in organisations. This paper will first walk through the reasons why e-signature software is a key to business process digitisation.
